This week we will be reviewing surface area and volume to prepare for EOG's. At the end of the week students will take a quiz on the skills we have reviewed up to do this point. This quiz will give me that data we need to continue our reviews in the upcoming weeks.
Homework: Castle Learning - EOG Review Week 3 - Due Friday IXL Contract - Due May 25th Tests: EOG Review Quiz - May 18th This week students will take the mock EOG's on Wednesday. We will also be reviewing decimal operations.

Each week over the next month we will be reviewing between two and three standards followed by a short quiz to assess mastery. We will begin reviewing fractions and decimals at the end of this week and beginning of next week.
Homework: SchoolNet - Harbin26 - Due Friday IXL Contract - Due May 25th Upcoming Test: Data - Tuesday April 24th This week we will finish our final unit of the school year. Students will continue collecting and analyzing data and focus on finding the mean, median, mode, and range. We will also be looking at different ways to represent the data such has box and whiskers, line plots, and histograms.
Homework: SchoolNet - Harbin25 - Data (Started on Friday) Castle Learning - Data IXL Contract - Due May 25th Upcoming Test - Surface Area/Volume Retest - Complete prior to Wednesday Data - April 24th This week we will begin our final unit of the school year. Students will be introduced the mean, median, mode, and range when collecting data. By the end of the unit students will create and analyze different charts and graphs including box and whiskers, histograms, and line plots.
Homework: Castle Learning - MMMR - Due Friday 4th Quarter IXL Project - May 25th Upcoming Tests: Surface Area/Volume Retest - Data - Tuesday April 24th This week we will review for our surface area volume test that is on Tuesday. We will also be giving out our fourth quarter IXL contracts. These contracts will be due May 25th.
Homework: SchoolNet - Harbin24 - Due Wednesday (Started last Tuesday) Castle Learning - Volume - Due Wednesday (Started Friday) IXL Contract - May 25th This week we will continue to find surface area of three-dimensional figures using nets. Students will be using nets to show the specific dimensions and calculate the area of each individual face. We will also be moving into volume the second half of the week. In sixth grade, students are only responsible for calculating the volume of rectangular prisms, however, students also need to understand how volume connects to the "real world".
Homework: Castle Learning - Surface Area - Due Friday IXL late contracts - Due Friday for up-to 80% Upcoming Tests: Area Retest - Wednesday, March 21 Surface Area and Volume - Tuesday, March 27th Today we will take our end of unit area test in which students will find the area of triangles and rectangles, as well as shapes that can be broken down into those figures. Students can apply any formula that they have learned for these shapes. Tomorrow we will celebrate Pi Day by exploring the area and perimeter of circles. Although this is a seventh grade standard, it fits right into our unit. We will finish the week by introducing surface area before moving into volume next week.
Homework: SchoolNet - Harbin23 (Started Friday) Grade book up-to-date - Friday Upcoming Test: March 13th - Area March 27th - Surface Area and Volume This week we will continue to find the area of shapes. In sixth grade, students are responsible for knowing the formulas for triangles and rectangles, however, we have also introduced formulas for parallelograms and trapezoids. Students should be able to break apart compound shapes into figures that they are able to solve.
