Next week's problem is ready to go too! The most common math concept that people like is lines and graphs, so we're gonna look at those this week - and look at a possible college food plan (which was actually very close to mine at UNC! Go Tar Heels!) The link to see the problem and respond is: http://bit.ly/cmsmathpow11 (or you can look on Twitter @cmsmathproblems!)

Hope everyone had a great Monday - one week from today we will leave work for Thanksgiving! I wanted to let you know that our Week 8 @cmsmathproblems Problem of the Week is up - this one blends math and history, and it gives the chance for a tiny bit of outside research. Could be a great, non-threatening way to re-introduce students to internet research through a math problem, because as we know, math is everywhere! (If you don't feel you have the time, please make sure you are prepared to tell the students when World War II ended.) Here's the link: http://bit.ly/cmsmathpow8 Hi Math Friends,
I'll have a couple teaching things to share later this week (after I check them out a bit more), but for now, I wanted to remind you all that our next @cmsmathproblems Problem of the Week is up! We set a new record last week, even though the problem was much harder mathematically than most of our others. Please remember to share this in class (it's a short week, don't forget 😊), with colleagues in other departments, friends, neighbors, and everyone else - we are all math people in Charlotte! Even better, a lucky winner will get Hornets tickets this week for the 11/20 game against the Timberwolves. Also, my answer/explanation for last week's responses is here: http://bit.ly/2yZgdiQ Wanted to let you know that the @cmsmathproblems CMS Math Problem of the Week #4 is up and running! It's a bit shorter this week, and it's visual...hopefully a bit less intimidating and easier to talk/think about! The link is: http://bit.ly/cmsmathpow4
Also, the answer and explanation for last week's problem are here (definitely not the only right answer and explanation though): http://bit.ly/2kPcYEk New CMS Math Problem of the Week @cmsmathproblems - This week's problem is up - it's basketball themed, and one lucky submission will receive 2 tickets to the Hornets game on 10/25! Remember, follow and share @cmsmathproblems on Twitter, and respond (and have students respond) to the link in my e-mail signature, http://bit.ly/cmsmathpow3
